Tourism In Lee County Is Booming

Lee County is situated in southwest Florida. Its two principal cities are Fort Myers and Cape Coral (the county's most densely inhabited municipality). According to residents, the multitude of outdoor recreation activities in Lee County has attracted thousands of tourists. Moreover, the county has plenty of culture, evident by its surrounding museums, art galleries and parks. Many people want to invest in Fort Myers and Cape Coral properties because the county has breathtaking landscapes, friendly neighborhood and exciting nightlife experience.

According to nbc-2.com, Lee County tourism numbers show increase since 2011. The county was able to collect more than a million dollars in bed tax money, which is approximately five percent more than in 2011. Furthermore, visitors spent about $104 million during their stay, which is an increase of ten percent from last year. This year, the county has collected approximately $26.5 million, which is up by 9 percent from 2011 and over 20 percent from 2009.

On the other hand, according to the Visitor and Convention Bureau, there is no reported rebound in tourist numbers from 2008-2012. Primary reason for this is the lagging visitation of family, friends and other relatives. Nevertheless, visitors during the 2012 summer season spent more than they did from 2009 to 2011.
