Just
recently, Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine has opened the doors and welcomed
their public in. Located at 4643
Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine offers gourmet food, fresh
deli meats, cheeses and groceries with a strong German influence. Among the
specialty items that available there are venison, goose, Cornish hens, spreads,
Hors d'oeuvre, specialty condiments and more. And their large selection of
wines begins at just nine dollars a bottle.
Cape
Coral Gourmet Food and Wine is owned by Hans and Dolores Zumkeller who came
from Trinidad were they were involved in the construction business. After they
moved to Cape Coral, they decided to establish their new food and wine
specialty shop at the building where The Candy Station used to be. The good
news is that the Zumkellers will also be stocking up on those exquisite
chocolates and fudge which that confectioner store used to carry.
The
Zumkeller couple and their son Kevin are still putting on the finishing touches
for the new Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine. They are planning on hosting
later a welcome wine and cheese tasting event for the community. They are also
asking customers what else they would want to have in stock. They said that
they have already tracked down some very hard to find items and welcome the
challenge to look for more.
Meanwhile
at 1140 Ceitus Terrace, just off Pine Island Road, a new restaurant called the
Crazy Olive is all set to hold its grand opening by January 12.
Two
of the partners in the new restaurant, Mike Slonin and Hunter Bloch, have been
working hands on and locally to design every aspect of the restaurant from the furniture, fixtures,
lighting down to the items to be served in the menu. They want to create an ambiance
which feeds off the name of their place, Crazy Olive, and thus are willing to
try everything.
According
to them, their menu will feature steaks, seafood, and pasta and will cover all
bases of what diners are looking for. Patrons can start their evening at the
bar where throughout the day a “Crazy Hour” will be announced via social media.
There will be one wild hour throughout each day where crazy specials are
offered on food or drinks. Following that theme, diners can then choose their
selection of meat or fish, choose their sauce and then their style of cooking.
An array of side dishes will also be offered.
At
the opposite end of the plaza where Crazy Olive is situated, another new
restaurant, Dempsey’s Diner, will open by January 19.
The
new Dempsey's Diner will reportedly be a 50’s style diner offering breakfast,
lunch, dinner, shakes, malts and other fares throughout the day every day.
The
two new neighboring restaurants have together reportedly created 60 to 75 new
jobs in Cape Coral.
